Building Your Freedom Begins On the Inside with Structure
Welcome to the third and final blog in this series that is helping you Create More Freedom while scaling your business. And today, we’re bringing everything together.
In blog one, we talked about your brain.
In blog two, we looked at cosmic wisdom.
And today, we are going to answer the obvious question:
What do we actually DO with all of this information?
How do you take brain science…
cosmic wisdom…
And your desires…
and turn all of it into actual freedom?
Because freedom shouldn’t be another beautiful concept you listened to on a podcast. You need to be able to experience it. And we’re going to start somewhere that might surprise you. Not with your calendar.
➡️ We’re starting with your life.
When most women decide they want to manage their time better, they immediately pull out their planner. They look at the week and start moving things around. And there’s nothing inherently wrong with that. But there’s a problem.
Think about this. If the planner you’re reorganizing is already built around the wrong priorities… you’ve just made the wrong life more efficient.
You can become incredibly efficient at living a life you don’t actually want. We’ve all done it. You can optimize. Automate. Color-code. And still wake up thinking: Why am I still doing all of this?
And for that reason, before you touch the calendar, I want you to ask yourself the bigger question.
If my business existed to support my life rather than my life existing to support my business… what would my week actually look like?
Your brain is going to want you to automatically think about what’s realistic. Don’t let it negotiate. And Just answer the question. What would your week look like?
What Most Women Get Wrong When Talking About Freedom
This is where I think a lot of conversations about freedom go wrong. We talk about freedom as this giant abstract concept.
Women say “I want more freedom.”
And when I ask: What does that mean?
Because freedom looks different for everyone. They rarely can put it into words. It’s takes awhile. Maybe you love the idea of getting everything done before noon and having the rest of your day completely open.
If you’re like me… getting up at 4am for a run gets me excited. Maybe it’s being able to travel more. Or simply spend more time outside every day. Maybe it’s being available when your family needs you. Maybe it’s having enough flexibility to wake up on a beautiful Tuesday morning and think: I’m going to the lake today.
You can’t build structure around a vague idea. So, get specific.
You’ll need to get clear on What makes OUR life feel like ITS YOURS? Not what most businesses coaches on the internet say freedom looks like. What it actually looks like to YOU!
The Magic That Happens After Your Have a Clear Vision of What You Want
Once you’ve completed your vision, it’s time to identify your Non-Negotiable Freedom Points. These are the parts of your life that make everything else worth doing. The interesting thing… For most women, these things don’t require enormous amounts of money. They often require time and self-permission.
Morning Coffee Outside in quiet.
Walking your dog.
Gardening.
Reading.
Having dinner with your family.
An hour alone.
Taking a class.
Making art.
So the question to discovering yours is to ask. 💛 What are the things I do now that wouldn’t change if I had more money? That’s important. Because those exact things are usually what we’re working so hard to have more of… someday.
Do you hear that quiet voice in your ears telling you…
Someday I’ll have more time for travel?
Mine used to say... when things calm down you can go on long hikes with my partner. Come to find out, I don’t need more time I needed more structure.
The bigger issue?
Why are you scheduling your freedom for someday?
What if you commit to structure your life now? So, you can do all the things and still find success in your business.
I didn’t need more time to hike. I needed to prioritize days to do it.
We Have Been Taught To Build Our Calendars Backwards
WE were taught from the get go to structure our lives from the outside in.
By obligations first.
Then Work.
Meetings.
Errands.
Family responsibilities.
Housework.
Business.
No particular order, but everything that has to happen. And then we can look at whatever little scraps remain for our free time. ➡️ Gurl! Of course you don’t feel free. You gave freedom the leftovers.
But Structured Freedom reverses the process.
And before you go there... This isn't being irresponsible. Because we’re not telling you to cancel your mortgage payment and go frolic through a meadow because Mercury is doing something interesting.
We still live in the physical world.
And Bills and Responsibilities exist.
Your Businesses will always require attention.
😏 And you’re probably responsible for keeping some human alive… wealthier it is a kid or partner.
But the key is to stop automatically assuming that every responsibility gets first access to our lives.
So, Start with a few things that make life feel like yours. And Protect the f*ck out of them. Then structure the necessities around them. This simple action can change can completely alter your perspective of time.
How Structure Promotes Internal Calmness Which Creates More Freedom From the Inside Out
Now it time to bring your brain back into the conversation.
Remember from blog one: Your brain benefits from predictability. When some decisions have already been made, you don’t have to continually renegotiate them. ➡️ The key in this scenario isn’t to allow predictability to become rigidity.
This is why we suggest anchors. An anchor is something that gives your week shape without dictating every minute.
Let me give you examples of business anchors:
Maybe Monday morning is creative work.
Tuesday and Thursday are client days.
Wednesday afternoon is ALL yours.
Friday morning is administrative.
AND Maybe EVERY DAY you don’t take calls before 10am and you close shop by 4pm. And have one day every week without appointments.
Those are anchors. They train Your brain begins to learn the patterns and be able to predict what is on the agenda without expelling more energy. Which means you’re not waking up every morning with 47 things floating around your head asking: Which one you should accomplish first?
Because The structure is holding those decisions for you.
This is honestly one of the simplest ways to create more mental freedom. And let me be frank, freedom starts on the inside with the power of your mind. When you look at the decisions you’re making repeatedly that don’t deserve that much energy... You’re answering those questions on autopilot instead of from scratch every day. And that allows your brain to conserve energy that really matters.
So decide n three things once.
This automates repetitive things.
And Establishes easy boundaries.
Now I should emphasize something: The goal isn’t to cram more work into less time. That’s just hustle culture wearing an efficiency costume. And it doesn’t create freedom. The goal is to stop wasting your attention on decisions you can automate. Because your attention is actually incredibly valuable. I would rather you use it to have an extraordinary idea, rather than decide for the fifth time this week when you’re going to answer email.
Creating White In a Sea of Colors
And Now we get to one of my favorite parts. White space. You’ve probably heard about it. And might actually use it. But stick around because I'm are going to put a new spin on it!
If you look at your planner and every available hour contains something…
➡️ This isn’t Structured Freedom. You have a very organized cage.
White space needs to be part of the design. And I’m not just speaking about blocking off time for yourself. You’re going to have two types of white space. One that is intentional. And is committed to your desires. It makes space that you won't fill with something that comes up, Because something will come up. Something ALWAYS comes up. And we all know Your business will happily consume every hour you give it. So this white space needs protection.
💛 Maybe it is taking the after noon off.
💛 Maybe it’s two hours in the middle of your week.
💛 Or not working on a Friday.
And here’s the difficult part:
Don’t immediately assign that time a purpose.
🚫 This isn’t your personal development block.
🚫 It’s not your exercise block.
🚫 Or reading block.
🚫 Or a time you can finally clean the closet.
🥂 It’s simply SPACE.
The second type of white space I call pillows, a cushion of time between responsibilities.
✅ Maybe it’s a 15 minutes between calls.
✅ Or a 45 minute lunch break.
✅ It can even be 10 minute buffers between errands.
Like, there are days that I just sit in my car for 10 minutes before running into the grocery store, because I know I have a time buffer. I just sit, no phone, not podcast, no music.
Now the important thing to remember with both of these is — You can decide what you want to do with it when you arrive. Because that’s where the freedom lives. The structure simply makes sure the space survives long enough for you to experience it.
Flexibility Creates the Freedom and Structure Helps It Survive
So far, we’ve built the bones to freedom. Now we add flexibility. Because the problem with traditional time management is that it often assumes you’re the same person with the same energy every week.
You’re not.
Life changes.
Your energy changes.
Business changes.
Creative cycles change.
Heck, The world around you changes.
And this is where I want you to add a cosmic check-in before you plan your week. Remember the season check in? This is when you implement that to your structure.
Asking yourself: What season am I personally in right now?
Energetically.
Are you in an initiation?
Or being called to start something?
In creation and building?
Maybe in expansion?
Or completion?
Something asking to be finished or release?
Or maybe a period of integration and rest.
You have to take the time to notice what is actually happening. Because then you will be able to determine what structure will support that season and you can fill that white space appropriately!
💛 That’s where brain science and cosmic wisdom meet.
Example:
Let’s say you’re in a highly creative period. Ideas are pouring in. You’re excited. You’re waking up thinking about something you’re creating in the daily. That’s Great. That means, Maybe this isn’t the week to fill your calendar with meetings. And time to protect more creative white space.
Or maybe you’re in completion energy. And there are six unfinished projects hanging over you. This may not be the moment to start the 7th. And you need to create structure around finishing what you’ve already started.
Or Maybe you’re in a deeply reflective period. Something in your life or business is shifting. But You don’t quite know what it is or means yet. You need fewer external voices and more solitude.
And sometimes you’re in full action energy. You know exactly what you want. You’ve been thinking about it long enough. Everything feels aligned. So GO! Roll with it!
This is the element most coaches miss. And then you end up filling those gaps with more things to do. This also eliminates rigidity. Because rigidity wants you to do the same thing every Tuesday —- forever. But Structured Freedom is all about the container that currently supports my life. And allows for the changing tides when life changes.
Now Once a week, I want you to do what I call a Freedom Audit.
Take ten minutes.
Sit down and look back at your week.
Identify what fueled your energy for the week.
Maybe a certain kind of work energized you. Or being outside. A specific conversation. Then take a look at what consumed unnecessary time? Not what took time, because Some worthwhile things take enormous amounts of time.
🙌 We’re looking for unnecessary consumption.
Where did time disappear without giving you much in return?
Scrolling?
Emails?
Unnecessary meetings?
Driving somewhere twice because you didn’t plan ahead?
Doing something manually that could have been automated?
Reworking something because you didn’t make a clear decision the first time?
Then.. this one is a little tougher … What are you continuing simply because I’ve always done it? That question… it can change a life and business. Because sometimes the biggest time leaks aren’t inefficient tasks. 💥 They’re outdated commitments. Something that made sense three years ago. Might be an outdated procedure for your business today. Or it might be someone you tend to schedule in the afternoon that belongs to an earlier version of you.
This is a way to reflect in order to make something happen fast. Or eliminate it all together. Discernment is vital to creating more freedom.
Then What Happens?
Ok…. Now let’s say this works.
You’ve reduced unnecessary decisions.
You’ve created anchors.
You’ve protected white space.
You’ve removed something that was consuming five hours a week.
Congratulations!
You now have more free time.
But here’s the hard part… THIS is where I want you to pay attention.
What do you do with it?
Do you immediately fill it?
Do you suddenly decide the garage needs organizing?
Or emails answered?
Do you create another project?
Do you look around for something productive because having nothing to do makes you uncomfortable?
Remember what we talked about in the first blog?
If you’ve spent years associating productivity with being responsible, successful, or valuable... free time can feel strangely uncomfortable.
So, one of the practices of Structured Freedom is learning to receive time without the need to earn it. You already created it. It’s yours. You don’t have to justify it.
Test the waters today…
Here’s a fun experiment. Take twenty free minutes right now. And don’t use them to improve anything. Not your business. Your body. Your house. Even your knowledge. Or spirituality. Not even mindset. Nothing!
Sit outside.
Have coffee.
Look at the sky.
Walk somewhere without tracking your steps.
Do something completely unproductive.
And notice what happens inside you.
Does your mind start offering suggestions? Of what you could be doing… Most likely. Because this isn’t wasted time. This is the life all that productivity was supposed to create. That’s the part we forget.
We are wrapping up the 3rd blog and you’re excited about Creating Freedom. And there is a temptation I want you to avoid. Don’t go home and redesign your entire existence tonight. Because that’s exactly how we turn freedom into another project. And when we don’t follow through… We decide it’s not working and give up.
Instead:
View this as an Experiment.
Change one structure.
Collect evidence.
Try it for a month.
What happens?
Make adjustments.
What happens?
And keep going.
You’re not trying to build the perfect schedule. You’re learning what actually creates freedom for YOU. Your brain learns from experience. So give it experiences.
If you’ve always believed: The less you work the more your business will suffer…
don’t argue with yourself about it for six months.
Run an experiment.
Work two fewer hours.
What happens?
If you think: You have to respond immediately or people will be upset…
Create a boundary.
What happens?
If you think: If you think you can’t possibly take Wednesday afternoon off…
Take three Wednesday afternoons off.
What happens?
Collect evidence.
Because sometimes you’ll discover something didn’t work. That’s useful information. But sometimes you’re going to discover something far more interesting. Nothing fell apart. Your clients survived. Your business survived. The internet continued functioning. And you got your afternoon back.
That is how your brain begins learning that freedom is safe. Not because you made a vision board but because you experienced it.
And I want to finish this entire series with something I think is incredibly important. We spend so much time measuring our lives by output.
How much we accomplish?
How much we made?
How has much your business grown?
Those measurements have value.
Especially in business.
But I think Structured Freedom requires another measurement.
➡️ How much of your life did you actually get to experience?
Because what exactly are you building all of this for if you never get to experience it?
You’ve made it through this entire series. And understand and got the gist of why your brain needs structure and how to align it with intuition to create more freedom! But understanding this isn’t going to change your life.
What you do with it will. And this is where so many incredibly smart, self-aware women stop. They have the insight. They recognize what isn’t working. They know what needs to change. And then Monday comes and they do nothing different.
The old subconscious response kicks in. And slowly, almost invisibly, you return to the same life you were trying to change.
Information alone doesn’t override the subconscious responses, structures, and expectations that created the life you’re currently living.
😣 And now that you can see them, continuing to live inside them has a cost.
😣 Another month.
😣 Another year.
😣 Another summer you barely experience.
😣 Or trip you put off because there isn’t enough room for it.
Thinking there is Another version of your life waiting somewhere in the future for you to finally have enough time. That’s what you’re risking by stopping with the series. Because you never needed more information. You need to take what you now know and use it to change the way you actually live, work, create, and receive.
And that’s exactly why we created The Six-Figure Freedom Formula, my free three-part audio series, and discover the mindset shifts that help you create more wealth, more time, and more freedom.
